Destiny has new content coming! Who’s hyped?

Rise of Iron is coming, Guardians! rise of iron

Anyone else here play Destiny?  My husband, David, and I have played since the alpha.  David had been watching info about the game for quite awhile and was pretty excited about it coming out, on a whim I signed up for one of those “retweet and win an alpha code” contests on Twitter and ended up winning a code for the PS4. We didn’t actually have a PS4 though, until that moment we were Xbox gamers.  So, we discussed it and decided to go get a PS4, literally so we could try out this game. I know, we are weird.  So, David and I alternated trying out the Alpha, it’s a single player game so we had to behave and take turns. We ended up enjoying the alpha so much, that we decided to purchase a second system so we could play together. So, we took a bunch of games to gamestop, and an old xbox that we were no longer using, and found ourselves the proud owners of a second PS4… you’re welcome Sony. So began our love affair with Destiny. destiny

Once the game was released, we got ourselves two copies, and sat down to play. We had so much fun! Until we got to the end of the first strike, and it took us hours to get past Sepiks Prime, also known as “the big eyeball.”sepiks

Hours spent wiping, starting over, lots of cussing and the fantastic feeling of achievement when it was all over.  Hours spent trying to beat the big alarm clock, The Nexus. the nexus

Hours spent having an absolute blast failing and trying again.  As usual, David was into the game more than I, so while I was a casual player he was pretty hardcore. Eventually he was raid ready and found a few people to raid with. Over time, those people he found to raid with became our friends. Friends that now, going into Year 3 of Destiny, we are still friends with, we text, we game, we raid, it’s a beautiful thing.

Each quarter when new content comes out, it rekindles the love we found the very first time we patrolled.  While there have been a couple of times through out the last 2 years where we have taken a Destiny break, tried out some other games, done other things, we have always gone back. Something about that game just keeps drawing us back! In year one, we worked hard to collect every exotic, I still remember how absolutely amazing it felt when that damn elusive Gjallarhorn finally dropped for me. year one gally

I was the last of our group to get it, and by the time I did get it, pretty much everyone had 2 or more!  I remember when I started playing with the group of friends that David had made, saying that I would never raid because I would never be good enough. This group not only got me into the raid, but made me an expert and we’ve mastered all of the raids hundreds of times!

Year two brought us new exotics to collect, and new levels to hit. I’m actually still working on mine. I extended even more out of my comfort zone and started doing PVP, which is a whole other side of Destiny, this game really does have something for everyone. I’m a HORRIBLE PVPer, but I do it anyway, because most of the time I have a blast doing it, sometimes I get really ticked off and rage quit, but most times I have fun shooting others in the face, the best is finding a group of guardians and blasting them all in the face with a nova bomb… yup, that’s good times. Meanwhile, David and I have a core group of people that hang together, we took a Destiny break together, tried out some other games, went back to Destiny, tried out some other games, and now with Year 3 coming up, we are gearing up for some serious Destiny fun starting tomorrow. We’ve definitely shelled out quite a bit of money for this game, because we both play and our oldest boy plays often as well, but the amount of fun that we’ve had, with our friends, with our kids, with each other from just this one game, is outstanding and worth absolutely every single penny.

I can’t wait for tomorrow, the Gally is back in black with Rise of Iron and I’m stoked. gjallarhorn

I just wish that we were getting our own wolves. If you feel like you might want to try the game, hit this link..You can choose whichever platform you use. Only do it if you really want to have fun gaming though, if you’re lame… don’t buy it.

6 fun new iOS 10 features!

Posted by on Sep 16, 2016 in Random cool stuff | 0 comments

Hi guys! So, I planned my day around waiting for my new Iphone 7 Plus,  like literally I’m on my couch waiting anxiously for the Fed Ex guy to come and trying to improve my blog, so guess what happens, my daughter calls and needs me to pick her up from school.  Of course I’m totally freaking out that I’ll miss the Fed Ex guy and he won’t leave my package, so I decide to write him a nifty note.  note closer

So to pass the time, I thought I would play around on my current Iphone 6 and see what new features came with the new update, iOS 10.

It’s rockin my world y’all.  I’ll break it down for you.

1: Texting is mega more fun now, since they added GIF’s! When you are sending a text you can simply click on the arrow to the left of the message box and chose the little A looking thing (I’m not sure what it’s supposed to represent, if you know then tell me!)

2. For some more texting fun, you can send your texts with effect, you press and hold the blue arrow to the right of the text box and you can choose from a variety of options, balloons, confetti, lasers, fireworks, and you can send messages in invisible ink so you have to rub the message to read it.

3. The flashlight has different brightnesses, I’m a big fan of the flashlight and I happen to use it a lot at night when I’m roaming the house looking for chocolate, er I mean when I’m taking the puppy out to potty. Yeah, that’s what I’m doing. You do need the version of the iphone that has 3D touch for that one, so 6S and up, you can find that setting in Settings < Control Center.

4. Lyrics! In Apple music some of the songs have a lyrics option on the now playing menu, touch the three dots and you’ll see the option to pull up the lyrics there.

5. How about those things that you don’t remember subscribing to, or that someone else signed you up for, and you have to hunt at the bottom of the email to find the unsubscribe option and it’s a huge waste of time and super irritating. Now, you can unsubscribe from mailing lists right at the top of the email. Just don’t use it to unsubscribe from me, duh.

unsubscribePS. Central Intelligence is out and I highly recommend.  The Rock and Kevin Hart, seriously funny.

6. Who loses their car in the parking lot? I mean I never, ever forget where I park so this feature is totally irrelevant for me… Just kidding, I lose my car all the time and I’m pretty sure it’s why the panic button was invented.  Anyway, so if you use Apple Maps, it will automatically place a pin where you park, it will give you a notification letting you know and it allows you to add a picture if you’d like.  I will be using the heck out of that.

So that’s the features that I’m most excited about.  There are also new emoji’s, and you can finally delete the stock app, as well as the podcast app and a few others.  No worries if you decide you want them back,  you can always reinstall them.

One more thing, Amazon is great for getting inexpensive yet durable cases for phones, this is the one I plan on getting, if anyone else is looking for a case. iPhone 7 Plus Case, Caseology [Wavelength Series] Slim Ergonomic Ripple Design [Burgundy] [Modern Grip] for Apple iPhone 7 Plus (2016)

And if you’ve gotten the equally as awesome Iphone 7, here’s an option for you. iPhone 7 Case, Caseology [Wavelength Series] Slim Ergonomic Ripple Design [Burgundy] [Modern Grip] for Apple iPhone 7 (2016)

HEY! MY PHONE IS HERE!!!! It’s so pretty! I have to go so I can set it up! Let me know how you guys like the new iOS 10, and if you have any questions, please drop them in the comments.

Have a magical day!

Fandoms, we all have them…

Posted by on Sep 13, 2016 in Fandoms | 0 comments

So, I’m almost 40 years old. I’m not ashamed to say it, I may be almost 40, but I’m hella cool. Yup, hella. I dye my hair purple, and I have tattoos. Told you I’m hella cool. I also love nerd things, like a teenager loves boy bands. Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Supernatural, The Walking Dead… I can’t list all of them because it would take up this entire blog, but it’s a lot. I’m loud and proud about my fandoms, because I feel that you are NEVER too old to love things. I show my love, I have pins on my purse, fandom tattoos, fandom stickers on my car, I’m a teenager in a 38 year old body, with the knowledge of someone that is super smart. I really just want to stress how OK it is for you to love something. It’s also OK for you to let everyone know you love it! You don’t have to hide things, who cares what others think?! You’re not too old!

A few months ago, I went to my first Con, Wizard World Philly. It was an amazing experience, we dressed my daughter up as The Childlike Empress from The Neverending Story movie and she had an absolute blast. The movie The Neverending Story was a huge part of my childhood, my brother and I had the movie on VHS and watched it a million times, we had a cassette recorder and we would act out scenes. As soon as my kids were old enough, I sat them down and we watched it together, my older boys did not appreciate the awesome that is this movie, because they are icky boys but my daughter, my shining light… she loved it. She loved it so much that she wanted to BE the Childlike Empress and the con allowed her to do that!

For a day, she was magic, she was light and she loved every single second of it. IMG_9670

As we were leaving the con, she asked when the next one would be.
She had a leather satchel of pink crystals, which she handed to each person who recognized her character. There was so much love for her cosplay throughout the day and she really, really enjoyed putting a smile on people’s faces by handing them the crystal, which represented the last grain of sand that remained of Fantasia. I definitely lived vicariously through her. I ended up finding a blog about her on Twitter Click to read the awesome blog! which told about how she completely turned the Con around for one woman and her son. What a fantastic feeling, knowing that my daughters cosplay made someone really see the awesomeness that is a comic convention.

That’s what being a dorky, geeky, fandom loving nerd is all about, FUN! The joy you get when you dress up as your favorite character, the joy you spread when someone sees you dressed up and they love that character too! Life is meant to be enjoyed, and loving stories, characters, shows, movies, all of those things make life fun! So I’ll repeat, you are absolutely never too old to love something, and you should never ever hide that love, or be embarrassed. If you haven’t seen The Neverending Story, you should definitely watch it, cheezy 80’s graphics and all, it’s a beautiful childhood story. As always, I have a link here, it’s for the first and second movie. The second movie stars Jonathan Brandis who was my absolute favorite actor when I was a teen, and the movie is only 5 bucks, so just do it.

The NeverEnding Story / The NeverEnding Story II

Hey so I got the email thing set up, so please, do me a solid and sign up! It’s that way ——–>

Also, I would love to hear about your favorite childhood movie, or your favorite cosplay! Comment below and tell me your story.
Have a magical day!

Settin’ up shop…

Posted by on Sep 12, 2016 in Noobness | 0 comments

Hey guys! My goal is to post a blog a day, but life gets in the way. Friday I had these amazingly delicious cupcakes delivered, and I was SO EXCITED about the delivery part, (because I’m a total lazy bum) that I bit into the cupcake and completely forgot that I have a bad tooth. Big mistake. Long story short, I ended up at the dentist on Saturday and I’m going in tomorrow for a root canal (DUN DUN DUN!) I’m terrified, like legitimately scared, but that’s another blog. This blog is intended to just let you guys know about the store I set up on Amazon.
In trying to earn money to supplement my husbands income, I’m exploring all kinds of avenues. So I set up shop, it’s the SkidooshShop! I’m throwing up all kinds of nerdy randomness on it, so you should check it daily, in case I have something totally cool that you have to have! As usual, I’m droppin the link here SkidooshShop, clicky and check it out! Also, I’m working on getting an email sign up thingy added here so you guys can sign up for my blog updates. Hopefully I’ll have that live tomorrow. I know you’re all anxiously waiting to get a daily email from this nerd! Have a magical night guys!

Fantastic beasts! Who’s excited?! And other HP stuff…

Posted by on Sep 9, 2016 in Fandoms | 1 comment

So, who loves Harry Potter world? I do! Did you guys know there’s a new movie coming out that is set in that same magical place? Well there is! It’s called Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and I bet it’s going to be amazing! It’s based on a book, but they also have the screenplay coming out as well, I will drop a link at the end of this post so you guys can pick it up on Amazon and give it a read. It doesn’t come out until November but if you’re a Potterhead like myself, you will definitely pre order it so it will be in your magical hands the day it’s released. I’m super excited to see more of the wizarding world, November can’t come fast enough! I recently did a re read of the Harry Potter series and every time I finish reading them, I feel like I’ve lost my friends. It’s just so hard when it’s over! When The Cursed Child came out, I was literally like a kid in a candy store. I got my copy, sat my butt on the couch and pretty much read the entire thing in one sitting. I fell in love with Snape all over again and had so much apathy for little Albus. I also found a true affection for the son of Malfoy, Scorpius tugged at my heartstrings quite a lot, and in true J.K. fashion, he was quite the sarcastic fella, which I do love. So, I’m excited to enter that world again through the Fantastic Beast movie, I’m certain it’s going to be everything I want and more. We’ll definitely have to discuss here, once it comes out!
